US clean fuels company secures equity support

Arbor Renewable Gas, a Texas-based company looking to convert biomass to cleaner gasoline and hydrogen, said August 18 it had secured equity support to facilitate its advancements.

From its headquarters in Houston, Arbor is developing industrial-scale facilities that can convert woody biomass to low-carbon fuels. It said it has now secured capital commitments from EnCap Investments and Mecuria Energy Company.

“Bringing proven industrial scale development leadership has been the missing component to delivering cost-competitive, broad-scale distribution of low-carbon transportation fuels,” CEO Timothy Vail said.

Cleaner fuels are evolving from a small niche as the energy transition moves forward, with near-daily announcements on hydrogen.

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe and is viewed as an integral part of a cleaner future. Costs, however, can be prohibitive and researchers are looking at whether the processes used to produce it are environmentally friendly or not.

Arbor provided no information on the value of the equity support or project development timelines.
