Technip Secures Further Prelude Work

Technip has been awarded a contract by Shell Australia to provide multi-disciplinary engineering and design services in support of the Prelude FLNG project, Technip said December 15.

Under the contract, Technip will provide a comprehensive suite of services, including concept, FEED, detailed and follow-on engineering services, procurement services, construction management services, pre-commissioning, commissioning and hand-over services, operational testing support, scope and portfolio management services including cost and planning support, and document management and control and specialist engineering support to supplement Shell Australia’s team.

This follows contracts by Shell Australia relating to Prelude awarded on December 9 to Japan's JGC (for construction management and completion support services) and on December 14 to Swiss inspection firm SGS (to provide offshore cargo inspectors and third party laboratory services).

Prelude FLNG will be world's second floating gas liquefaction platform as well as the largest offshore facility ever constructed. It is being built by the Technip / Samsung Consortium (TSC) in South Korea for a joint venture between Royal Dutch Shell, Kogas, and Japanese Inpex. The Prelude FLNG system will take gas from the Prelude and Concerto gas fields in the Browse basin off the coast of Australia.
