TAP Confirms Plan to Start Pipeline Construction in 2016

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) resorted to a more established marketing strategy, confirming its intention to go ahead and play a central role in the transportation of natural gas from Azerbaijan to European markets.

“As we enter the next exciting stage in our development, it is important that TAP has a consistent brand image that is clearly recognisable to all our stakeholders and properly represents this dynamic and forward-looking project,” Michael Hoffmann, Director of External Affairs for TAP, said on Tuesday, referring to the launch of a new website for both local communities affected by construction works and international stakeholders.

According to the press release, TAP is progressing as scheduled, with the construction of the pipeline confirmed to begin in 2016.

‘TAP continues to make progress in preparing for construction of the pipeline, which is due to begin in 2016, with the building of access roads and bridges in Albania scheduled to commence in 2015.’

TAP’s shareholding is comprised of BP (20%), Socar (20%), Statoil (20%), Fluxys (16%), Total (10%), E.ON (9%) and Axpo (5%).

Meanwhile, Azei Socar released its export figures for the first six months of the year, claiming a central role in global oil and gas markets.

‘During January-June of 2014, the volume of the exported oil from Ceyhan Port to the world market totaled 14 million 282 thousand 527 tons,’ the company wrote on its website.

In June, TAP has issued a contract notice for two compressor stations, one in Greece and one in Albania
