TAP Announces Engineering Progress

The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) group has announced a major step forward with its engineering system.

The Front End Engineering Design (FEED) has been completed, TAP says in a statement. The pipeline project, which is competing for the contract to convey Shah Deniz gas from Azerbaijan to western Europe, says this is a major step towards construction of the 800km pipeline.

Norway's Statoil and Germany's E.ON Ruhrgas, members of the TAP group, were key players in the FEED programme. The other major shareholder in TAP is Axpo of Switzerland.

TAP also says it is ready to present its Decision Support Package to the Shah Deniz Consortium by next Sunday, March 31. The consortium is due to decide on the successful tenderer by June this year.
