Tanzania Well to Spud in December

UK-based Aminex said October 18 that civil work at its Ntorya-2 onshore wellsite in southern Tanzania is now complete and the process of mobilising the Caroil 2 drillrig from the Ntorya-1 wellpad 1.5 km away has begun.

The Ntorya-2 appraisal well is expected to spud late 4Q2016 and, once spudded, drilling is expected to take 45-60 days. It is targeting a resource base of 153bn ft³, the independent assessment made by Senergy of gross gas in place at the Ntorya-1 discovery.

Ntorya-1 flow-tested at 20mn ft³/d with 139 barrels of associated condensate. Aminex as operator has a 75% interest, UK-based Solo Oil has 25%.

Solo estimates that the Ntorya-2 well will spud in December. The area is just 20 km from the 36-inch Mtwara-Dar es Salaam gas pipeline that was commissioned in late 2015. Aminex and Solo are also among the partners in the producing Kiliwani North field, further north in Tanzania.
