Tanzania to Build Gas Pipeline With Chinese Help

As a part of Tanzania’s effort to up ambitious energy plans for 2025, the East African nation is looking to build 534-kilometre long Mtwara-Dar es Salaam natural gas pipeline.

The government has already secured a $1.2 billion loan from Exim Bank of China to finance the project and construction is expected to take 16 months, East Africa Business Week reported.

The pipeline is also expected to be extended to Tanga, Arusha and Mwanza regions, the report said.

The pipeline is likley to supply 103 million cubic metres of gas to Dar es Salaam.
