Sydney Morning Herald: Gas Company Linc Energy Faces Trial Over Queensland 'Leak'

Linc Energy has hit out at "inconsistent evidence" presented after a Queensland court ruled the company should face trial over allegations a gas leak at its Chinchilla plant caused serious environmental harm.

The company was last year investigated over the alleged breach at its Hopeland operation, west of Brisbane, in March.

Four workers fell ill with suspected gas poisoning and a government-commissioned expert study found permanent acidification of nearby soil.

The Queensland Environment Department found enough evidence to level five charges of causing serious environmental harm against the company, which could result in a fine of up to $32.5 million. MORE
