Swiss Axpo Seeks New CEO

Swiss Axpo is seeking a new CEO following the decision by the incumbent Andrew Walo to leave by December this year at the latest.

“After five intensive years, Axpo is fit for the future and I am looking forward to new pursuits,” said Walo. “I will leave the Axpo Group feeling satisfied. With a great team, we achieved good operating results, implemented painful but necessary cost efficiency measures, completed large-scale projects, diversified the portfolio and grew profitably.”

Walo developed the greener side of Axpo's energy but kept one foot in fossil fuels. Under his watch, Axpo committed to buy LNG from Canada and ship it to Germany, subject to final investment decisions from the operators at either end of the chain. Axpo is also a long-standing partner in various links of the Southern Gas Corridor.
