Subsea 7 Announces China Contract

Subsea 7 December 17 announced the award of a contract by Offshore Oil Engineering Co., for Chinese state-run Cnooc's Lingshui 17-2 gas field development project located in the South China Sea approximately 150-km offshore Sanya, Hainan province.

The contract scope includes transportation and installation of five steel catenary risers, the company said. Lingshui 17-2 field water depth ranges from 1,450 metres to 1,560 metres.

Project management and engineering will commence immediately at Subsea 7's offices in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with offshore operations taking place in the first half of 2021, Subsea 7 said.

Last week, state-owned CCTV reported that Cnooc has started to drill at Lingshui 17-2. The field is expected to start its first gas production at the end of 2021.
