Strike starts mobilising rig for Walyering 5 well

Sydney-listed Strike Energy has started mobilising the Ensign Rig 970 rig in preparation for the drilling of the Walyering 5 (W5) well in onshore Perth basin in Western Australia, it said on November 2. The rig has been released from the Lockyer Deep well.

“Strike will complete the mobilisation and rig up in preparation to spud the W5 well, which is currently expected to occur in mid-November 2021 with a proposed 33-day drilling and completion campaign,” the company said.

The W5 well will be drilled down to a depth of 3,138 m and is designed to test the updip potential of the Walyering wet-gas discovery. Strike operates the project with a 55% interest, while Talon Energy has a 45% stake, having completed a farm-in deal last year.
