Norwegian Explorer Awards More Than €1.1 Billion in Contracts

Norwegian multinational oil and gas firm Statoil said today that it has awarded two long-term contracts valued at NOK 11 billion (€1.146 billion) for insulation, scaffolding and surface (ISS) treatment services. The two contracts were awarded to Beerenberg Corp and Prezioso Linjebygg and will each run for 15 years.

In a statement on its website today, Statoil said the contracts between them covered services provided to 20 of its 29 installations on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS).

The contracts replace two 15-year contracts with both companies. Beerenberg will provide maintenance for 11 of the 20 installations, according to Statoil and Beerenberg, while Prezioso Linjebygg will provide maintenance for the remaining nine.

In a separate statement, Beerenberg said that the awarding of the new contract would enable both it and Statoil to improve operations and to meet future industry demands.

"In a commercial perspective the contracts awarded to Beerenberg by Statoil will stimulate improvements in the areas of HSE/Q, consistency and productivity," the statement said. "The 15-year perspective that the ISS contracts offer will boost the ongoing technology and skills development processes that the industry needs to realise in order to meet the future demands and expectations of the petroleum industry."

Statoil also has contracts with Bilfinger Industrier and Kaefer Energy for maintenance services on its installations. The company says it intends to extend those contracts, too, by exercising its contract options at a later date.
