Sound Plans 3 East Morocco Wells in 2018

Morocco-focused UK explorer Sound Energy said February 8 it plans a three well 2018 exploration campaign in eastern Morocco, subject to partner approvals. It expects to spud TE-9 in July, TE-10 in September and TE-11 in November 2018

Each of the wells will take about 60 days. In anticipation of drilling TE-9, the environmental impact assessment is expected to be completed shortly, allowing Sound to begin ground works in April.

Sound Energy and partners hold 28,548 km2 of exploration acreage position in eastern Morocco, including its discovery at Tendrara. Sound drilled two successful wells there in 2016 and 2017, which established the economic gas potential in the TAGI (Triassic) reservoirs at Tendrara. Final data processing of 22,800 km2 of recent aerial gradiometry data is now complete and modelling of that data is expected to conclude later this month, added Sound; it covers the Tendrara, Matarka and Anoual permits of eastern Morocco.

Last month Sound divested its non-core Italian interests to Saffron Energy, which is restructuring itself as Coro Energy at a London launch event February 15. Sound CEO James Parsons will also be Coro's non-executive chairman.
