Sound Re-enters Koba-1 Well, Morocco

Sound Energy, the African and European focused upstream gas company, confirmed June 12 the start of operations to re-enter and test the Koba-1 well at the Sidi Moktar licence, onshore Morocco.

The total operation is expected to last about ten days, after which the rig will move to the Kamar-1 well for the second stage of the operation, as announced May 17.

The Sidi Moktar licences cover 2,700 km² in the Essaouira basin, central Morocco, and are close to existing infrastructure and gas demand, including the large scale Moroccan state owned OCP Phosphate plant. Successful drilling could lead to sales gas later this year.

Sound is also active in eastern Morocco, where it could take a final investment decision on a 1 trillion ft³ resource at Tendrara, depending on its success with the drill bit.
