Sonatrach strikes gas in Sahara desert

Algerian state energy firm Sonatrach on June 28 announced a gas condensate discovery in the Hassi R’mel field in the Sahara desert.

The preliminary evaluation suggests that the reserves could be between 100 and 340bn m3 of gas condensate. “These volumes constitute one of the largest revaluations of reserves in the last 20 years,” the company said.
