Sonatrach, Shell look at oil, gas trading

Algeria's Sonatrach said on April 1 it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Shell on potential cooperation in the supply and trading of crude oil, natural gas and petroleum products.

Under the deal, the two companies will discuss ways of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving carbon management practices together.

Sonatrach is looking to strengthen cooperation with international partners to attract more investment into Algeria's hydrocarbon sector and reverse years of production decline. The company signed several deals with Italy's Eni in late March on upstream and other fields of joint activities.
