Sonatrach Extends Gas Deal with Tunisia

Algerian national oil company Sonatrach has extended its long-term gas supply contract with Tunisia for another eight years until 2027, it said on June 18, with an additional two-year extension possible.

Sonatrach will also increase the volume of gas it supplies to by 20% starting in 2025. The deal consolidates Sonatrach's position as Tunisia's main gas supplier in a competitive environment, the company said. Tunisia is the starting point of the Transmed pipeline to Italy.

Sonatrach is also a key supplier of gas to Europe, recently raising its stake in the Medgaz pipeline that delivers its output directly to the Iberian peninsula.
