Solstad Secures Australian Drilling Contracts

Norway’s Solstad Offshore on February 26 announced it has won drilling contracts in Australia.

The first contract is expected to start in the second quarter of this year. An anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel Normand Ranger, will mobilise from Norway and will then provide support to a drilling campaign offshore northwestern Australia, securing about one year of utilisation for the vessel, it said.

During the drilling campaign, which also includes support from the Solstad AHTSs Normand Saracen and Far Senator, the Normand Ranger will operate in connection with a moored semi-submersible drilling rig, with the base port being Dampier.

In addition, the platform supply vessel Far Seeker, has been awarded a contract by Santos. The vessel will support drilling activities offshore Timor Leste, operating predominantly from Darwin. The contractual period is approximately six months, with further options available to Santos, and is scheduled to start in April 2021.
