Snam Pens Deal on Gas, Hydrogen Use in Transport

Italian grid operator Snam has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with truck manufacturer Iveco and powertrain maker FPT Industrial to develop gas and hydrogen infrastructure for the transport sector in Italy and elsewhere, it said on November 3.

Iveco and FPT, both subsidiaries of CNH Industrial, will co-operate with Snam using gas and hydrogen systems for light- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, and well as in local transport.

The agreement follows a string of other deals Snam has signed on using gas and hydrogen to help decarbonise transport systems. It signed a MoU with FS Italiane rail network on developing hydrogen-powered rail transport in Italy in October, followed by deals to create a supply chain for using LNG as transport fuel in Israel.
