Slowdown in Gas from Ukraine in First Quarter

Gas transported from Ukraine to western Europe over the first four months of the year decreased by 18.2% on last year's figures, according to official statistics.

Volume of gas sank to 25.211 billion cubic meters (bcm), and to CIS countries by 27.1%, to 969.66 million cubic meters, Ukrainian news agency NRCU says.

Last month, gas transit through Ukraine decreased by 23%, to 5.891 bcm.

At the same time, in April this year, gas transportation to consumers Ukraine increased by 7.1% compared to April last year, to 3.289 billion cubic meters.

"The growth in the domestic demand for gas is associated with low temperatures in April. And exports and imports volumes are simultaneously falling in accordance with the applications of supply companies. Ukrtransgaz traditionally fulfills on time 100% of applications made for gas pumping through the gas transportation system, both inside the country and abroad," reads a statement.
