Sinopec's Yuanba Gas Field Passes Milestone

Sinopec-operated Yuanba gas field has achieved an operational milestone with cumulative production reaching 15bn m3, Sinopec said September 27.

At present, the Yuanba gas field produces 11mn m3/day of raw gas, which is equivalent to meeting the gas demand of more than 10mn households/day, the company said. The field, located in southwestern China's Sichuan province, became operational in late-2014. The construction of the Yuanba gas field started in August 2011.

Yuanba is China’s first ultra-deep reef high-sulfur gas field with proven gas reserves of 220bn m3. According to Sinopec, Yuanba gas field is one of the important resource bases for the gasification of the Yangtze River economic belt, which stretches from Sichuan province to Shanghai. It covers many fast-growing cities like Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanchang and Nanjing.
