Sinopec's southwest unit ramps up gas output

Sinopec Southwest Oil & Gas Co. produced 2.56bn m3 of natural gas in the first four months of the year, up 21.2% year/year, its parent company Sinopec said on May 18.

Sinopec said that production capacity increases at the Weirong shale gas field have been accelerating. Sinopec had completed the first phase of the Weirong shale gas field in Sichuan province in 2019. The field has a production capacity of 1bn m3/year in the first phase which will rise to 3bn m3/yr when the second phase comes online.
