Sinopec's Qingdao Terminal's Imports Cross 18mn mt

Sinopec-operated Qingdao LNG import terminal, located in the port city of Qingdao in Shandong province, has received over 18mn metric tons of LNG since it became operational five years ago, Sinopec said November 19.

The terminal has received 266 LNG vessels since the start of operations in November 2014, Sinopec said. The terminal at present has a capacity to handle 3mn mt/yr of LNG.

In August last year, Sinopec said the second phase of the terminal has been officially approved by Shandong provincial government. Once the second phase is complete, the terminal’s handling capacity will more than double to 7mn mt/yr. In the second phase, the company will add two 160,000 m3 storage tanks to the terminal. Sinopec will also build new warehouses and acquire additional land near the terminal.

In addition to Qingdao, Sinopec operates receiving terminals at Tianjin and Beihai.
