Sinopec's Gas Supply to Xinjiang Hits Record

Sinopec has supplied a record 1.01bn m3 of natural gas to Xinjiang Autonomous Region this year from its Northwest Oilfield, it said October 23. Supply was up 33% yr/yr and 92.8% of the annual target.

The state-run company said that gas demand in Xinjiang has been very strong this year, especially in the southern part of the autonomous region. Earlier this year, the Northwest Oilfield achieved a milestone of supplying more than 100bn m3 of natural gas to Xinjiang since 2005.

Sinopec Northwest Oilfield Company, the operator of the field, is working aggressively to promote usage of natural gas in Xinjiang, Sinopec said.
