Sinopec Says Shale Gas Field Output Up 20%

Sinopec’s Fuling shale gas field’s 2017 production target has been met, as its output reached 6bn m3, up 20% year on year, Sinopec News said January 2.

The gas sales volume from the field was 5.7bn m3, also up 20% year on year.

The first phase of Fuling shale gas field in Chongqing, central southwest China, went into production in 2015. Sinopec has announced it is aiming to produce 10bn m³ of shale gas annually by 2020 from the field.

China is working on building a substantial shale gas infrastructure. Despite many hurdles, the industry has managed to achieve significant progress in last few years.
