Sinopec Sets LNG Truck Loading Record at Beihai

Chinese state Sinopec December 4 said its Beihai LNG receiving terminal loaded a record number of trucks in a single day on November 27.

The terminal loaded 221 LNG trucks on that day, setting a single-day record since its commissioning in April 2016. Sinopec said LNG trucking has played a very important role in transporting the commodity to areas not connected to the grid. Since April 2016, the terminal has loaded more than 40,000 trucks which have transported 861,800 metric tons of LNG.

Beihai terminal’s truck loading capacity has increased significantly this year. It can now load 350 truck/day compared with 160 trucks/day at the start of the year, the company said.

Sinopec operates three receiving terminals in China: Tianjin in the city of Tianjin, Beihai in Guangxi province and Qingdao in Shandong province. The state-owned company in August said it will increase spot LNG purchases to ensure gas supplies are sufficient, especially in northern China, during the winter season.
