Sinopec Reports Stable Output at Fuling Field

Fuling shale gas field, operated by Chinese state-owned Sinopec, has produced 912mn m3 since the start of the year, unchanged compared with the same period of last year, Xinhua reported February 26 citing a company statement.

Work on the Fuling field, located in central southwest China’s Sichuan basin, started in 2013 and the first phase of the project become fully operational in 2015. Fuling was the first shale gas project in China to achieve commercial production.

The Fuling shale gas field has produced a total of more than 28bn m3 of gas since it became operational, Xinhua said. A total of four shale fields have been discovered in the Sichuan basin in recent years: Fuling, Weiyuan, Changning and Weirong.
