Sinopec discovers new oil, gas field in Xinjiang

Chinese state-run Sinopec has discovered a new oil and gas field in the Tarim basin in the Xinjiang region of the country, it said on microblogging site Weibo on August 25.

The company’s northwest unit drilled the Shunbei 44X well which flowed 856 metric tons of crude oil and 590,00 m3 of natural gas. Sinopec said 100mn metric tons of oil and gas had been discovered in the field.
