Singapore's LNT Marine to Design LNGC

Singapore-based technology provider LNT Marine has signed an agreement with China’s Wuhu Shipyard and Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute to jointly develop an LNG carrier design, LNT said on August 3 in a LinkedIn post.

The trio will develop a design for a 40,000 m3 LNG carrier based on the LNT A-Box containment system. The vessel design, referred to as the WuhuMax, will be a shallow draft LNG carrier optimised for trade on Yangtze river with limited air and water draught, the company said.

According to LNT website, the LNT A-Box containment system offers a self-supporting prismatic IMO independent type A tank, placed in an insulated cargo hold with a full secondary barrier. The internal structure and bulkheads inside the tanks curb movements of the liquid, eliminating sloshing problems regardless of the liquid levels in the tanks, it said.
