Singapore to Discontinue Sling

Singapore Exchange will stop publishing its spot price indices - Sling - for LNG by October, Energy Market Company (EMC) said in an undated statement on its website.

“The production and publication of the Sling indices will be discontinued. Please note that EMC will continue publishing the indices until 31 October 2019 provided that there is sufficient data for an accurate and robust index to be published,” EMC said.

EMC will discontinue the Sling indices after low participation over the past few years, an SGX spokeswoman told Reuters in an emailed statement July 30.

The Sling indices are based on assessments from a group of physical LNG players for the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th assessment periods following the day of assessment.  Participants will submit assessments to the administrator of the Sling indices on every Monday and Thursday (business day) of a week.
