Singapore Interested in Participating in Russian Gas Projects

Companies from Singapore are interested in cooperating with Russia in gas projects, according to Russian Ambassador to Singapore Leonid Moiseev.

"They [Singapore companies] want to become the center of LNG trade in the Asia-Pacific region, they are currently building the second LNG terminal; perhaps, there will be the third terminal in the future," Moiseev told RIA Novosti Tuesday adding that the country's projected LNG capacity will reach about 14 million tons.

Moiseev said that Singapore is interested in getting as many partners in the area as possible, including those from Russia.

According to the ambassador, representatives of Singapore companies visited oil and gas facilities on the Russian far eastern island of Sakhalin in September, and expressed interest in participating in some projects, RIA Novosti reported.

Singapore’s increased interest toward Russia is linked with the landmark gas deal between Russia's Gazprom and China's CNPC, Moiseev said.
