Sichuan Province Connected to China-Myanmar Pipe

Southwest Chinese province of Sichuan will now start receiving gas from the China-Myanmar pipeline through the Chuxiong-Panzhihua connecting spur which was commissioned November 23, CNPC said  November 26.

The Chuxiong-Panzhihua spur is one of the important supporting pipeline network projects of the China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline, CNPC said. The 190.1 km spur was built with a total investment of yuan 1.04bn ($150mn) and has a capacity to transport 2bn m3/year of gas. It starts at Chuxiong city, Yunnan province and terminate in the city of Panzhihua in Sichuan.

The gas will be supplied to industrial units and homes. According to CNPC, availability of gas will not only benefit residential users but will also lead to significant reduction in usage of petroleum coke in industrial units, bringing down sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide and carbon emissions.
