Shell Pakistan to Take Part in LNG Import Tender Process

Shell Pakistan will take part in tendering process for the import of LNG in Pakistan, said Managing Director of Shell Pakistan Limited, Omar Sheikh on Wednesday.

“Since we are already in the LNG business in many countries, we will also take part in the bidding process in Pakistan,” said Sheikh in Islamabad during the presentation of Shell’s Future Energy Survey 2013, reports The News.

Pakistan is in talks with Qatar to imports 200 mmcfd of LNG and the government is expected to launch the tendering process for import of more LNG soon.

Sheikh said Shell is in contact with the government over LNG delivery in Pakistan, adds The News.

“Pakistan needs to import 2 to 2.5 bcfd LNG. For this purpose, Pakistan also needs to erect more terminals as the existing terminal being installed by Engro will have a capacity to handle 690 mmcfd LNG,” Sheikh said.
