Shell Australia to expands gas production in Queensland

Shell Australia's QGC business plans to drill approximately 115 new gas wells and connect them to the Western Downs region of Queensland, Shell Australia said on January 17.

“The project will support up to 300 jobs, helping to boost the regional economy and provide more gas for domestic and export customers over the next 15 years,” it said.

“Developing new supplies of gas is the most effective way to secure reliable energy for Australia and its trading partners,” Shell Australia added.

The QGC business specialises in the production of coalbed methane (CBM), catering to Queensland's domestic gas market. In addition to meeting local demand, the company processes CBM into LNG for export purposes.
