Shearwater Bags India Contract

Shearwater GeoServices Holding has been awarded a combined 2D and 3D broadband marine seismic acquisition campaign by Indian state-run ONGC in eastern offshore, India, it said December 17.

The contract is planned for execution in the first half of 2020. The survey covers 1,600 km2 of 3D and 800 km of 2D data in a deepwater area of the Bay of Bengal, Shearwater said.

“We are very pleased to return to work with ONGC in India for a fourth consecutive season” said Irene Waage Basili, CEO Shearwater GeoServices.

ONGC has stepped up on bringing newer fields into production. Its first deep water gas field, S1-VA, offshore India’s east coast, was commissioned last year while first gas from the KG-DWN-98/2 block, also off the east coast, is expected soon.
