SeverEnergia’s Field in Yamal-Nenets Reaches Full Capacity

Russia’s Novatek announced that the first stage of the Urengoyskoye field in the Yamal-Nenets autonomous region has reached its full capacity. The field is developed by SeverEnergia, joint-venture between Novatek and Gazprom Neft.

‘The first stage of the Urengoyskoye field within the Samburgskiy license area developed by SeverEnergia … reached its full design capacity of approximately seven (7) billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas and 2.5 million tons of gas condensate per annum’ reads a note released on Thursday

The majority (60%) of the 30 wells at the field are horizontal. They aim to tap gas condensate in ‘relatively high depth’.

‘Installation and testing of equipment for the second stage of the field development is being currently finalized.’

Novatek reported it has started production at the field in October 2013. According to data released in December 2013, the the proved reserves of the Urengoyskoye field within the Samburgskiy license area were estimated at 214 bcm of natural gas and 52 million tons of gas condensate.

On Tuesday, Rosneft wrote that it intends to overcome Novatek to become the second largest gas producer in Russia after Gazprom.
