Senex pens domestic gas supply deal

Sydney-listed Senex Energy has signed a long-term domestic gas sales agreement with construction materials and industrial mineral manufacturer Adbri, it said on July 22.

According to the deal, Senex will supply up to 11 petajoules (10.4bn ft3) of natural gas to support Adbri’s South Australian manufacturing operations from January 2023 until 2030. It will supply natural gas to Adbri at the Moomba hub at a fixed price, "in line with current market levels".

“Senex is delighted to welcome Adbri as a new long-term customer into our growing portfolio of leading manufacturers and power generators, broadening our reach throughout the east coast of Australia,” Senex CEO Ian Davies said.

Adbri CEO Nick Miller said the new gas supply agreement with Senex helps underpin the company's low-cost and low-carbon cement manufacturing operations in South Australia, whilst also supporting the economy and local jobs.

Senex said that since 2019, it has signed almost 60 petajoules of natural gas sales agreements with a number of customers including CSR Building Products, Orora, Visy Glass, CleanCo Queensland and Southern Oil Refining.
