Sempra, Woodside, Kogas to Work on Texan LNG Project

Sempra Energy and Australian Woodside have signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korean state LNG importer Kogas regarding the development of the proposed Port Arthur liquefaction project in Port Arthur, Texas, Sempra said June 29.

The parties are expected to cooperate on areas such as engineering and construction works, operations and maintenance activities, feed gas sourcing, offtake of LNG and Kogas as a potential purchaser of LNG from, and equity participant in, the Port Arthur LNG project. 

In February 2016, Sempra and Woodside signed a project development agreement that provides a framework for the sharing of costs of the Port Arthur LNG project related to the development, technical design, permitting and marketing of the proposed liquefaction project.  The proposed Port Arthur LNG project is designed to include two liquefaction trains with a total capacity of 13.5mn metric tons/yr, LNG storage tanks, marine berths and ancillary facilities.

Meanwhile, Kogas in a separate statement issued June 29 said it has signed an MoU with ExxonMobil and Energy Transfer relating to cooperation in US LNG projects and other related gas infrastructure businesses.
