Sempra issues $400mn in notes

US energy group Sempra Infrastructure has issued $400mn in 3.25% senior notes due 2032, the company said on January 11.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, potentially including the repayment of certain indebtedness, Sempra said. The offers will bolster the company's balance sheet and increase its financial flexibility to make further investments, it said.

"We are very pleased with the results of this inaugural issuance," Sempra Infrastructure CEO Justin Bird said. "This key milestone illustrates the strength of our new Sempra Infrastructure platform that integrates key assets of renewable energy, natural gas and LNG terminals."

Sempra Infrastructure manages the North American LNG assets of the larger Sempra group. Sempra divested a 20% stake in the subsidiary to US investment firm KKR for $3.4bn in October, and two months later sold a 10% interest to Abu Dhabi Investment Authority for $1.785bn. This second deal placed Sempra Infrastructure's value at $26.5bn.
