SDX Flows Gas at Latest Morocco Discovery

UK based North Africa producer SDX Energy said February 6 that its latest Morocco exploration well has been completed and tested.

The ONZ-7 well on the Sebou permit in Morocco achieved an average flow rate of conventional natural gas of 10mn ft3/d, using a 48/64" choke, and will now be shut in for several days for a pressure build-up after which it will be connected to the local infrastructure. CEO Paul Welch said that the results "reaffirm our view that the Sebou permit has the potential to be highly cash generative for SDX.  Furthermore, the maximum flow rate during this test of 15.34MMscf/d is the highest achieved to date in the basin. This provides us with further confidence in being able to deliver our gross production target of 8-10mn ft3/d of conventional natural gas in Morocco by the end of 2018."

ONZ-7 was declared a discovery on January 23. Most of SDX's recent wells nearby have been discoveries too and have been put into production, although its ELQ-7 well was declared uncommercial earlier last month. In the long run, SDX plans to increase its reserves by more than 100% and boost by more than 50% its Moroccan gas sales
