SDX achieves early launch at Egyptian gas well

SDX Energy has hooked up the SD-5X Warda gas well at the South Disouq concession in Egypt one month ahead of schedule, the London-listed company reported on May 4.

Following the well's tie-in to a central processing facility via the SD-4X flow line, first gas was achieved on April 27, SDX said. Production tests are underway, and after an initial flow period, the well will undergo a 12-hour shut-in, followed by a five-day main flow period, when it will produce gas at rates of 8, 10 and 12mn ft3/day. It will then be shut-in for 10 days so that pressure build-up can be monitored before continuous production.

"The well is now contributing to production and cash flow from this asset much earlier than originally anticipated and is testament to the ability of the SDX operations and field teams," SDX said. "Once the long-term production profile for the well has been established, we will revise our 2022 production guidance if appropriate."
