Saudi think tank, CNPC sign MoU on energy research

The King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC), a Riyadh-based think tank, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Economics & Technology Research Institute (ETRI) — a research institute affiliated with China’s CNPC — to strengthen cross-regional cooperation in energy research, it said on December 7 via a LinkedIn post.

The MoU was signed ahead of the inaugural Chinese-Saudi summit planned to take place this month in Saudi Arabia.

“This is a partnership that is an aspiration for the developing world as we enter a post-COVID and post-Paris Climate Agreement era,” Saudi Gazette quoted KAPSARC president Fahad Alajlan as saying.

Under the MoU, the two institutions will work on priority topics, including energy economics, technology, policy, and the environment, for the mutual benefit of both organizations and the global community.
