Saudi Consortium Wins Bulgaria Pipe Contract

A consortium led by Saudi Arabian Arkad Engineering has been contracted by Bulgarian state-owned Bulgartransgaz to build the pipeline that will carry Russian gas through Bulgaria to Serbia, the Bulgarian firm said April 3.

The company said the consortium, which includes Italian Arkad-ABB and Arkad Engineering and Construction, offered the lowest bid.

Russian gas exporter Gazprom is planning to deliver gas to Serbia through Bulgaria, as it extends the 15.75bn m³/yr TurkStream 2 gasline into central Europe.

Three groups submitted offers: DZZD; ОТ Industries; and Arkad. As a result of the check for compliance of the participants with the requirements of the Contracting Authority as laid down in the documentation on participation in the public procurement and the compliance with the selection criteria, DZZD and Association Consortium Arkad made it through to the shortlist. Bulgartransgaz said Arkad offered the lower price.
