Saudi Arabia announces two new gas discoveries

Saudi Arabia's state energy company Saudi Aramco has discovered two new natural gas fields in the eastern region, the country’s energy minister Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz said on November 30.

Awtad gas field has been discovered southwest of Ghawar field, 142 km southwest of Al-Hofuf. The Awtad-108001 well flowed gas at a rate of 10mn ft3/day and condensate at 740 barrels/day. The Awtad-100921 well flowed gas at a rate of 16.9mn ft3/day and condensate at 165 barrels/day, state news agency SPA cited the minister as saying.

The other discovery, Al-Dahna, is located 230 km southwest of the city of Dhahran. The Al-Dahna-4 well flowed gas at a rate of 8.1mn ft3/day and the Al-Dahna-370100 well flowed at a rate of 17.5mn ft3/day.
