Santos, Tamboran increase EP 161 gas resources

Sydney-listed Tamboran Resources and Santos have increased the estimate of EP 161 contingent gas resources following a review of extended production test data from Tanumbirini 2H and 3H, Tamboran said on September 5.

EP 161 unrisked gross 1C contingent gas resources have increased 73% to 330bn ft3 and the unrisked gross 2C contingent gas resources have increased 164% to 1.6 trillion ft3. The upgrade has been evaluated and certified by Netherland, Sewell & Associates, Inc.

The company said that the area over which these 2C contingent gas resources have been booked covers less than 4% of the prospective acreage within EP 161. Santos is the project operator with 75% interest while Tamboran has 25%.

Tamboran was awarded a grant of up to A$7.5mn ($5.1mn) through the Australian government's Beetaloo cooperative drilling programme in March this year. Tamboran's key assets in Northern Territory's Beetaloo sub-basin are a 25% interest in EP 161 and 100% interest in EP 136, EP 143 and EP(A) 197.
