Santos spuds Tanumbirini #2H in Beetaloo

Santos has spudded the Tanumbirini #2H horizontal gas well in Beetaloo sub-basin in Australia's Northern Territory, its partner in the project Tamboran Resources said on May 11.

Located on EP 161 in the core of the Beetaloo sub-basin, Tanumbirini #2H will be directionally drilled to approximately 4,800 m targeting the Mid-Velkerri B shale. Drilling is expected to be completed in the third quarter of the year, the company said.

The rig will then drill Tanumbirini 3H to a similar depth, prior to hydraulically fracture-stimulating both wells. Results from the two-well drilling and testing programme are anticipated to be announced in the third quarter of the year, Tamboran said.

Santos is the operator of EP 161 with a 75% working interest and Tamboran holds a 25% working interest.
