Santos inks gas supply pact with Rio Tinto

Australian explorer Santos on April 21 said it had signed a new gas supply agreement with Rio Tinto. It will supply up to 15 petajoules of gas to the miner starting in late 2021.

"We have been supplying natural gas to Rio for many years. This new gas supply agreement underlines the importance of natural gas for Australian manufacturers and industry," Santos CEO Kevin Gallagher said. "The agreement strengthens our position as Western Australia's leading supplier of clean, affordable and reliable energy.”

He said that Santos will continue to invest in the exploration and development of new domestic gas supplies in Western Australia to meet the energy needs of local households and businesses for the long term.
