Samsung C&T to Build Vietnamese LNG Terminal

South Korea’s Samsung C&T announced June 25 it has been awarded the contract to build Vietnam’s first LNG import terminal.

Samsung C&T will carry out the $180mn LNG import terminal project in a joint venture with Petrovietnam Technical Services Work. Work will start later this month and take about 40 months to complete, the company said in a statement.

The terminal will have a 180,000m3 tank, a vapour transmission facility and a docking station. It will be located 70km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City. Once operational, the terminal will supply gas to Nhon Trach power plant.
