Saffron Starts Italian Production

AIM-listed Saffron Energy said May 12 it has begun commercial production at its small Bezzecca field in northern Italy, a month after it announced first gas from the field. This will continue at 20,000-25,000 m³/d until end-June, after which it will increase to 35,000 m³/d as gas from new levels is added.

The gas is processed at the Vitalba processing plant, connected to the Snam national grid, and sold to Shell under an existing off-take agreement. Saffron CEO Michael Masterman said that the company had now "moved into revenue-producing commercial production at Bezzecca" and was on track to bring its Sant' Alberto field on stream in Q4 2017, as well as actively seeking new opportunities.
