RWE Dea Bets on Egyptian Nile Delta

RWE Dea confirmed another positive appraisal of the North West Khilala (NWK) gas field in the Nile Delta, Egypt. The company drilled the fourth well in the field brought into production last September.

“The recent successful appraisal of North West Khilala Field has confirmed and further enhanced our understanding of the reservoir properties and distribution,” Maximilian Fellner, General Manager RWE Dea Egypt, said in a note released on Thursday.

RWE Dea said it would now move the Weatherford 94 rig to drill a four-well appraisal and development programme in the South East Sidi Salem and Disouq fields approximately 50 kilometres west of the NWK Field.

The company plans to produce a total of approx. 11.4 billion cubic metres of gas from the seven gas fields in the first phase of the Disouq Development Project. RWE Dea is teaming up the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and the Suez Oil Company (SUCO).
