Russia's Novatek Boosts Gas Output in Q1

Novatek increased gas production by 13% year-on-year to a total of 18.66bn m3 in the first quarter of 2019, the Russian independent said April 10.

The data show a sharp rise in LNG sales, whilst domestic sales of natural gas slowed moderately. LNG exports increased by 255.5% to 3.41bn m3. Domestic gas sales declined 2.8% to 18.77bn m3.

Novatek launched trains two and three at its Yamal LNG plant in 2018, adding 11mn mt/yr in nameplate capacity at the far-eastern project. The first train of 5.5mn mt/y become operational in late 2017.

Novatek had 0.8bn m3 of natural gas, including LNG in storage or transit and recognized as inventory as of March 31.

Total hydrocarbon production rose 11% to 147.1mn boe in 1Q2019, with crude oil and gas condensate production increasing 1.7% to 2.987mn metric tons.
